The surgery went well, and he’s been discharged from the hospital, but must now undergo a rest and rehabilitation program for at least 8 weeks - doctor’s orders. His health and prognosis are both looking good. And that’s the good news. ( Read More…)

New U2 study produces surprising results

In April 2010, @U2 conducted a fan survey to learn who the majority of U2 fans are, what types of U2 events and/or music they have, whether they use the Internet for U2 related items and research, their thoughts on the band, and their thoughts on the albums, songs and tours.

This was the first survey conducted since November 2007. It had nearly 5,000 fan responses from 81 different countries.

The results may surprise you:

38 percent of U2 fans are between 30-39 years old. The second largest group–at 28 percent–were between the ages of 40-49.

72 percent of the fans own bootleg copies of U2 songs.

76 percent of them own all 16 of U2’s albums.

95 percent of fans think if Bono leaves, the other three should not continue as U2.

U2 No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 40 Money Makers

Billboard magazine’s 4th annual ‘Top 40 Money Makers’ list is out, and things are looking good for U2.

U2 tickets came out on top, grossing more than $108 million in 2009 through their huge 360-degree tour. According to U2’s official Web site the tour is scheduled to continue in 2010 “[w]ith a huge cylindrical video system of interlocking LED panels, and a steel structure rising more than 150 feet from the floor over a massive stage with rotating bridges.”

The 2009 tour was the most expensive production to ever tour, but fans showed their appreciation with their wallets.

Other stars to top the ‘Money Makers’ list are Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, Kings of Leon and Taylor Swift.
