For U2, it pays to be loud
Before U2 kicked off its European tour dates at the end of June, it spent a few days prior rehearsing in Barcelona, Spain, where the tour was set to begin. That’s when the problems started.
The Spaniards didn’t appreciate the band rehearsing beyond the midnight cut off time, and complained the concerts on June 30th and July 2nd at Camp Nou Stadium exceeded the prescribed noise level restrictions. As a result, Barcelona has levied a fine on U2 of 18,000 Euros, or approximately $22,000!
Come on, Barcelona! If you can’t stand the noise, get out of the stadium! Great music is meant to be played LOUD! At this time, I am happy to report no other cities have had any problems with the band or their decibel levels.
